According to reports, patients who were in the General Ward scampered for safety, leading to further admissions.
Speaking to Messiah Radio, Ms. Merriam Muhindo, who had a patient in the same ward, said the situation was tense as people feared thinking the hospital had caught fire while their relatives were admitted in different wards.
Muhindo said the loud sound forced caretakers and patients, to jump off their beds and run, causing commotion at the facility.
When contacted, the Hospital Administrator, Mr. Clarence Bwambale Mumbahya, confirmed the incident but explained that while in the General Ward, one of the intern doctors left the gas cylinder open and due to excess pressure, it released gas with a loud sound that scared many people in the ward.
Mr. Bwambale further noted that the two people admitted to the ICU are expected to recover according to doctors attending to them. ENDS.
