The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese has permitted female A ‘level students in catholic founded schools to grow and maintain their natural hair, saying that the practice differentiates them from villagers.
The Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira made the pronouncement yesterday in his remarks after officiating at the dedication mass of the candidates and confirmation at Kasese Secondary School.
Bishop Kibira said that the A’ level female learners are regarded as old women who need to be allowed to maintain their natural hair to create a difference from those that live in the villages.
According to him, such a thing prepares them for good conduct when they join universities and other institutions of learning and motivates the young to develop the zeal to reach higher levels of education.
The bishop also encouraged the A’ level students to be dressed in suits, neck ties and good long-sleeved shirts.
He pledged to buy suits for the Head girl and the Head boy of Kasese Secondary School to motivate the rest.
The learners welcomed the bishop’s guidance, saying they would uphold it with effect. ENDS
