The South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has appealed to the security operatives to embark on community policing in order to curtail the rate at which crimes are being committed in the communities.
The Prelate sounded the appeal yesterday afternoon in his remarks while addressing the inmates and the entire prison community during his pastoral visit to Mubuku Government Prison in Mubuku Town Council, Kasese District.
The Bishop expressed concern over the escalating cases of criminality in many communities, hence observing the need for the security operatives to improve community policing.
According to him, sensitizing the masses about the need to desist from committing crimes would play a key role in rehabilitating the ex-prisoners and educating the would-be offenders to protect themselves and guard against getting involved in acts that would land them in prisons.
The Man of God explained that if the crime was reduced, the country would be more productive.
