Residents of Buhuhira in Kasese District warned against domestic violence

BY OBED KITHENDE

Residents of Buhuhira Sub-county, Busongora County North in Kasese District have welcomed the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu and International Justice Mission’s message aimed at sensitizing the communities against domestic violence.

The Kingdom together with International Justice Mission is traversing Kasese District to educate subjects on preventing domestic violence in families.

According to the facilitators, when a family experiences violence, the children’s education is negatively affected and the family fails to develop because members neglect their responsibilities.

Today, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu extended the campaign to Buhuhira sub-county at Buhuhira Church of Uganda where some parents including Mr. Joshua Baluku from Kyapa Village and Sabayo Kasulha from Muhumuza village, said most cases of domestic violence stem from womanizing and disrespect by the married women.

Mrs. Jovia Bikoba, agreed with them and urged the men to adhere to the church vows and teachings of one man marrying one wife.

She then thanked the Kingdom for organizing such seminars, saying they would positively impact the families facing those challenges.

Officials from the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu including Mr. Nelson Nzende and Joel Manimba, told the subjects that the Kingdom was currently implementing a zero-tolerance policy against violence, a project supported by International Justice Mission.

They noted that a domestic violence-free society develops quickly because people live peacefully and are able to plan for their communities.
