The police in Kasese are investigating the death of a 19-year-old domestic worker who was found dead at the home where she worked in Kamaiba Lower Cell, Central Division, Kasese Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Sachesse Kabugho, a resident of Kamaiba Lower Cell.
The incident was reported to police on Monday at around 8pm after Kabugho was found dead at the home where she worked.
The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, said officers visited and documented the scene, recorded statements from witnesses and conveyed the body to Kasese Municipal Health Centre III mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Maate said preliminary inquiries established that Kabugho had been working as a domestic worker at the home of Issa Kibirige, a 57-year-old driver and resident of the same area. He said police had not yet established the circumstances or motive surrounding the death.
Kabugho’s co-worker, Medrine Biira, said she had noticed a change in the deceased’s mood on Sunday night and throughout Monday.
Biira said Kabugho appeared upset but avoided explaining what was troubling her.
She said she did not know what was discussed during the phone call.
The LC1 Chairperson of Kamaiba Lower Cell, Hamis Halima, urged young people facing difficulties to seek guidance from trusted adults, religious leaders and other people who can offer support.
The police have appealed to members of the public facing difficult circumstances to seek help rather than dealing with their problems alone.
The police said investigations were continuing, with the postmortem expected to help establish the cause of Kabugho’s death. ENDS
