The police in the Rwenzori East Region, Kasese district are holding four women on accusations of conning traders of their money.
The Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, confirmed their arrest yesterday during a press briefing at the Kasese Central Police Station in Kasese town.
According to him, the suspects were arrested from Kisanga Market commonly known as Mawa Market after receiving reports that they were terrorizing vendors and stealing handbags containing sums of money.
Tumushime did not disclose the particulars of the suspects in order not to jeopardize the investigations.
He used the same podium to report that they had registered a reduction in the number of road carnage, attributing it to the drivers’ ability to seriously take up the road signs.
The Regional Police Mouthpiece, however, warned the drivers against the act of driving while drunk and receiving phone calls.
