Police ask men to report domestic violence cases against them

BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

The police in the Rwenzori East Policing Region, Kasese district have encouraged men experiencing domestic violence cases to always report such incidents to the relevant authorities for redress.

The Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime says many cases involving men being abused of their rights by their wives go unreported.

According to Tumushime, most of the victims are wealthier men who end up being violated by their wives but decline to report.

Tumushime urged the men to break the silence and report any cases of abuse inflicted on them instead of keeping with the stress that kills many people.

He also observed the need for the Civil Society Organizations to include men in their programs especially those related to Gender Based Violence, recognising that domestic violence affects both men and women.

SP Tumushime called upon the married people to always embrace the practice of forgiving one another whenever one of the partners wrongs the other in order to avoid violence in families.
