Most youth present forged academic documents on the UPDF recruitment day in Kasese


The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has revealed that majority of the candidates in Kasese district who turned up for recruitment into the force didn’t go through because they presented forged academic documents.

The recruitment exercise that started yesterday and ended today in Kasese district targeted 140 energetic youth aged between 18 and 22 out of the 261 candidates that had been shortlisted.

Despite turning up at the Rwenzori Square in Kasese town, Maj. Bilal Katamba, the Public Information Officer for the Mountain Division and Operation Shujja explained to the press that in addition to the forged academic documents, other candidates had health related issues including hernia, ring warms and big scars on their bodies while other failed to complete the four – kilometer run.

According to him, the force was left with no option apart from leaving out the candidates with forged academic documents and considering 140 girls and boys that met the qualifications. They have since been taken to Kaweweta Army Training School for a military course. 

The Mountain Division Public Information Officer applauded the district political leadership and security operatives led by the RDC for being instrumental during the exercise. 

Mr. Ham Natuhwera, the Kasese District Vice Chairperson told the press that they were disappointed after observing that some youth had not yet studied up to Senior Four.

He called upon the parents to advise their children to acquire formal education so that they enabled to tap employable opportunities that might come across their way.
