Rwenzori East Regional Police are having in custody a 20-year-old young man on charges of defiling a four-year-old female child.
Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesman ASP Elly Maate identified the suspect as Kelvin Mumbere, a resident of Buswagha village Mughete parish in Kitabu Sub- county.
According to ASP Maate, the heinous crime is said to have happened on Wednesday night after the suspect went to the home of the victim where he found the four-year-old and other 3 children playing.
He apparently called the victim and promised to buy for her bread only to drag her into an old house and performed a sexual act.

After, the suspect told the victim to go back to their home and on reaching there she informed the mother about what had happened to her.
The police were immediately notified, and the suspect was traced, arrested and driven to Bwera Division Police Headquarters where he is under custody as investigations into the matter. ENDS
