The Ministry of Local Government has interdicted eighteen civil servants attached to Kasese District Local Government over an alleged gross negligence of duty, abuse of office, mismanagement of public resources and financial impropriety among others.
A letter dated August 21 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ben Kumumanya, addressed to the Kasese District Chief Administrative Officer, indicates that following a meeting held by the Minister of Local Government in the district, a number of issues were raised against the names of people listed in the document.
The interdicted persons are the District Commercial Officer, Simon Kasereka Yambuka, Principal Town Agent, Zakayo Kule, Senior Assistant Secretary/ Secretary Land Board, Erisania Masereka Musabe, Senior Assistant Secretary/Sub-county Chief, Philip Isejemba and Assistant Engineering Officer, James Bwambale.
The list of interdicted persons also singles out Head teachers including Joseph Ariyo, Paskazia Kabugho, George Masereka, Paskazia Masika, and others like Nelson Bahati Kaima, a driver and Alex Masereka, a potter among others.
The Permanent Secretary alleges that the listed persons had gross negligence of duty, abuse of office, mismanagement of public resources and financial impropriety among others, which had greatly compromised service delivery in the district.
The same letter indicates that it has been decided that the mentioned officers be interdicted to pave way for investigations by the State House Anti -Corruption Unit and other relevant government agencies.
