Joy engulfed the traders of Mawa Market in Kasese town today morning as they received two solar powered light systems from the Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Ferigo Kambale.
Valued at shillings 4 million, the solar powered light systems are part of the mega project of lighting markets that the legislator launched on January 21 in Kyanzuki market.
While handing the solar panels to the vendors, Hon. Kambale said he was responding to a request by the leadership of the traders indicating that they were selling their goods under darkness especially during the night hours.
Mr. Richard Kimeze, the Chairperson for Mawa Market Vendors, who said thieves were taking the lack of lights in the market as an advantage to steal their goods, commended the legislator for positively responding to their request.
Speaking in a jovial mood, a section of vendors including Florence Mbogha, Evelyn Makoma and Christopher Mumbere applauded Hon. Kambale for the donation that they said would give a boost to their businesses.
Mr. Amza Kataho, the NRM Chairperson for Kisagazi Cell in Nyamwamba Division, described Kambale’s actions as signs of a true and tested leader.
