BY JOACKIM KULE

The Bishop of the Born Again Faith in Kasese district has observed need for the landslide victims to engage themselves in productive activities as one way of improving their livelihoods.

Moses Thabugha who is also attached to the Deliverance Outreach Ministries (DOMI) sounded the remarks today afternoon while delivering food and non food items to the people of Mapata village in Bugoye sub-county.

On May 04, 2024, Mapata village witnessed landslides that hit a building in which three people were living and subsequently died on spot.

While handing over the relief items including beans, maize flour, hoes and blankets worth USD 1,500 donated by Brother Phillip from the United States of America to the beneficiaries, Thabugha told them to get involved in farming and other business activities so that they are enabled to meet the demands of their families.

Annette Biira and Salome Biira, both encamped at Mapata trading center in Katooke parish appreciated the message from the Man of God.

However, they disclosed that they were lacking financial support that would facilitate the establishment of business enterprises and modern farms.

Mr. Jonan Baluku, the Local Council I Chairperson for Mapata and Juvenile Kule, a resident in the area appealed to government and civil society organizations to distribute seedlings to the landslide victims so that they get where to start from.
