Kyarumba Town Council residents urged to embrace tree planting

Residents of Kyarumba Town Council in Bukonzo County East, Kasese District have been asked to plant more trees as a way of preventing the occurrence of landslides in the area.

The call was sounded on Wednesday by the area GISO, Joseph Rujumba Karule while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview at the Town Council headquarters.

According to Rujumba, planting more trees could help to solve the dangers caused by landslides including the loss of property and lives.

He explained that trees do not prevent landslides but also prevent soil erosion from taking place, attract rainfall, act as source of medicine alongside beautifying the area and preventing global warming.

He advocated for the planting of cocoa, coffee and mango trees for fruit production, hence leading to the promotion of food security.

He used the same platform to urge the residents to embrace government programs including the Parish Development Model.
