Kisangara Family Educational Trust has re-echoed the critical need for all stakeholders in the education sub-sector to effectively execute their roles in order for Kasese to register an improved performance in this year’s national exams.
In a passionate message shared to all stakeholders within the district, a copy of which Messiah Radio has seen, Mr Geoffrey Tibenderana Sunday, the executive director at Kisangara Family Educational Trust, said Kasese has been registering dismal performance at primary leaving examinations, Uganda Certificate of Education and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.
However, Sunday opines that Kasese has potential to register an improved performance if the teachers, students and the learners effectively execute their roles especially during this final term of the year.
He particularly urged school administrators to intensify their supervision by ensuring that the teachers develop their lesson plans and schemes of work, and also that they are conducting proper records and assessment practices.
The educationist also emphasised the need to establish a clear and structured improvement programme, where teachers agree to given targets and timelines failure of which they are held accountable.
To the students especially those in candidate classes, Sunday reminded them that academic excellence is never achieved by chance but rather that success is a product of hard work, discipline, consistency and serious preparation
He cautioned learners against unnecessary distractions and bad company which have potential to ruin their academic performance with its attendant effects on the quality of their future.
He also urged them to use creative measures to re-energise especially when they get overwhelmed by for example jogging or reading a short story book.
The education charity also urges parents to maintain a cordial relationship with the schools while also ensuring that they meet their obligations on time or work out an agreeable and realistic school fees payment plan so that children are not unnecessarily sent away from.
Sunday urges the people of Kasese to be mindful of the fact that the the quality of education provided to the learners today will shape the future of Kasese before emphasizing the need to use this third academic term as an opportunity to correct what went wrong in the previous terms, strengthen what is already working, and finish the academic year with determination and excellence.
The same message was sounded by South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop Rt Rev Nason Baluku who argues that good academic performance can only be realized if parents appreciate the value of education and ensure the welfare of the learners is guaranteed through provision of lunch and other scholastic materials.
The man of God also advised the heads of educational institutions to always adhere to the legal framework governing education in Uganda.
