Kasese teachers urged to diversify their sources of income

BY JOACKIM KULE

The Kasese District Education Officer, Mr. Ernest Bwambale Thabugha, has appealed to teachers to diversify their sources of income.

Mr Thabugha says it is unfortunate that most teachers entirely depend on their salaries yet they are too meager to meet all their needs hence making them vulnerable to multiple bank loans.

The education boss emphasised the need for all civil servants to establish various projects that will act as an alternative source of income; reiterating that diversifying sources of income is the only way to overcome the poverty jinx.

He made the remarks on Friday while addressing a section of the primary schools’ head teachers during their retreat at Vienna Hotel in Mpondwe –Lhubiriha Town Council.

Mr Thabugha argued that teachers have weekends and holidays to establish and grow other projects especially farm projects that could go a long way in boosting their household incomes.

Meanwhile, Mr. Eliphaz Bukombi Muhindi, the Kasese District Chairperson urged teachers to embrace financial discipline and only spend in accordance to their earning.
