The Arch bishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda, His grace, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu has challenged religious and political leaders to develop retirement plans as a mechanism to achieve peaceful transitions from one leader to another.
The Arch bishop opines that it is a duty of any office bearer to identify potential successors and groom them so that whey one leaves office; continuity is guaranteed because they will have trained enough leaders to occupy that office.
His Grace Kazimba-Mugalu, who is retiring soon from the helm of the Church of Uganda and was addressing congregants in his farewell message during service at St Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese town today, emphasized the need for leaders to service with dedication and humility.
The arch bishop also argued that whatever positions people hold; it is because God places them there as he cautioned against self-exaltation. He explained that God is always capable of lifting anyone from humble beginnings to positions of power and influence.
His grace Kazimba Mugalu also appealed to the population to always appreciate their leaders while praying for their promotions other than being envious of them.
He applauded the leadership of the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku the South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop whom he praised of bring about the transformation of the population through hard work and compassionate ministry.
In his remarks, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku commended Kazimba-Mugalu for his exemplary leadership which he said had steered the church of Uganda to greater heights.
Bishop Baluku also highlighted to the archbishop some of the strides that South Rwenzori Diocese has registered in the last few years.
Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi the Kasese District LC5 Chairperson used the same podium and applauded the church for complementing the government of Uganda by extending services to the population.
The Kasese Woman legislator Hon Sarah Ithungu Masereka Baleke commended the arch bishop for his continued ministry to parliament of Uganda.
The arch bishop’s farewell service attracted several dignitaries including, the Second Deputy Prime Minister Rt. Hon Dr. Chrispus Walter Kiyonga, Hon. Dr. Monday Rude Julius, Bukonzo County East Member of parliament among other political, civil and religious leaders. ENDS.
