The Kasese District Chairperson for the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has advocated for the establishment of programs aimed at offering career guidance and counseling services to the learners as one of the ways of mitigating strikes in schools across the district.
Mr. Saulo Maate says that he is disappointed with the recent incident where the learners of Rwenzori High School in Ibanda- Kyanya Town Council demonstrated at the beginning of this week.
Maate argues that the learners’ demonstrations in schools do not only affect the development of institutions of learning but also affect the learning process, hence leading to low levels of education in communities.
Maate advises that the people who have undergone formal education need to come together and create platforms from which they can talk to the learners and sensitize them about the best ways of conflict resolution and also the need to love their schools.
However, Maate challenges the foundation bodies and heads of institutions to revise their gaps especially in motivating learners that they accommodate in schools.
He reveals that he was told that the learners at Rwenzori High School demonstrated because they were demanding for a number of things including good feeding and the providence of a school bus, saying that such issues are manageable as long as the foundation bodies are active.
