Kasese: Parish Chiefs cautioned against violating PDM guidelines

Executive committees and parish chiefs have been cautioned against violating the guidelines issued by the government of Uganda on its flagship wealth creation project, the Parish Development Model-PDM.

Mr Ali Moshi Masereka, the Community Development Officer for Lake Katwe sub-county explains that he has observed that many PDM Sacco leaders together with the parish chiefs continue to flout the guidelines largely with an interest to meet their selfish interests.

Mr Moshi told Messiah Radio in an exclusive interview that his office has been filled with complaints from individuals accusing some PDM Sacco group leaders of soliciting bribes from them in order to add them on the list of beneficiaries of the government project.

According to Moshi, all leaders and parish technical staff ought to be mindful of the fact that government has fully facilitated all PDM activities and thus there is absolutely no reason to keep fleecing peasants of their hard-earned money with promises to make them also benefit from the PDM adding that all Ugandans especially those in subsistence farming are rightful beneficiaries of the project.

The lake county sub-county CDO also added that two leaders of Kasenyi PDM Sacco are currently under investigation for having solicited bribes from one of the natives in order to make him a PDM beneficiary.

He added that he has already worked with the police to ensure Mr Iddi Baraka, the group chairperson and Julius Ahebwa, the group’s secretary are apprehended after they were accused of flouting the PDM guidelines before adding that he would soon conduct a community dialogue so that members of the community highlight any other violations and the perpetrators for further action.
