ICT State Minister calls upon Ugandans to cooperate with census enumerators

BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

The Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance has called upon all Ugandans to cooperate with the census enumeration team through giving them relevant information that would help government to obtain the people’s social demographic characteristics and also obtain other factors that relate to the population.

Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kime sounded the call today morning while speaking to the press shortly after being enumerated at his country home in Rukungu Cell, Rusese Ward in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese district.

The 10-day exercise started today May 10 and will end on May 19 in all villages across the country.

Minister Kabbyanga explained that although the enumeration process takes long with 180 questions on the questionnaire, all Ugandans especially the household heads should be patient and cooperate with the enumerators when it comes to answering the questions fronted to them.

He, however, observed a challenge of the poor network on the Computer Assisted Personal Interview –CAPI which he said might affect the effectiveness of the whole enumeration exercise that is supposed to be completed in a period of 10 days.

The Minister used the same platform to discourage the masses from the myths and misconceptions against the National Population and Housing Census. According to him, some people had started alleging that government wants to know the wealth of her citizens so that they are over taxed.
