The Former Busongora County South Member of Parliament in Kasese District, is rooting for an alliance between opposition political parties in order to enhance their capacity to challenge the ruling National Resistance Movement.
Mr Jackson Mbaju Kathika, who is also the Rwenzori Regional Sub-coordinator for the National Unity Platform, says that it would be ideal if the PPF, FDC and NUP would come together and agree on who to front basing on ability to emerge victor in particular villages.
Kathika argues if the three parties would agree, they would identify areas which have strong members of either party and ask those who believed not to be strong to step down so that they form a formidable force against the ruling NRM.
Kathika also indicates that this wouldn’t be the time for the opposition parties to allow the village and women seats to be taken by the NRM because they would have weakened their mobilization at the grassroot levels.
However, when asked on phone, the Forum for Democratic Change Chairperson, Ronald Kabuku became hesitant about the proposal, noting that it defeats logic when such an idea comes after the nominations.
Mr Selevano Kiiro Mulhondi, the NRM Chairperson and Gideon Masereka Black of the NRM in Kasese municipality, say the NRM intends to win all the positions in local council one and women council elections.
Mr. Baram Baluku, the Central Division Chairperson, has urged all the people to endeavour to vote for leaders who have the capacity to offer them effective leadership within their communities.
