Dr Chrispus Kiyonga re-affirms government’s commitment to providing effective health care

The Second Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Chrispus Walter Kiyonga has paid a courtesy call to Kagando Rural Development Centre-KARUDEC in a move aimed at acquainting himself further with the institution that is at the centre of health care and health education in Bukonzo County East constituency.

Kagando Rural Development Centre is a church-founded initiative charged with the management of Kagando Hospital, Kagando School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kagando School of Allied Health Science and Kagando University College of Uganda Christian University.

Dr Kiyonga, who met senior executives at KARUDEC, reiterated government’s commitment to enhancing access to effective healthcare for both communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Dr. Kiyonga emphasized the need for improved health systems that respond to the growing disease burden in the region.

After the meeting, he toured the facility and inspected the hospital laboratory, Neonatal Ward, and Rehabilitation Unit.

He commended the staff for their work but urged them to strengthen service delivery and ensure equipment is well maintained for public use.

Dr. Kiyonga also challenged medics at the facility to adopt alternative methods of treating ailments with a focus on nutrition and food security.

The executive director at KARUDEC Rev. Betty Mbambu Mweru said that the organization will continue supplementing government efforts in the provision of social services to the population.
