Deputy Executive Director of the Microfinance Support Centre rallies women on greater heights in the facets of life

BY ZALIMON BASIGHLHA (GOOD LUCK)

The Deputy Executive Director of the Microfinance Support Centre- MSC has rallied all women in Kasese district and Rwenzori sub-region to look beyond the kitchen and aspire for greater heights in the various facets of life.

Ms Hellen Petronilla Masika says it is unfortunate that there are still people who think that women only belong to the kitchen and thus not only refuse to empower them but also stop them from engaging in income generating work.

According to Masika, women are engines of socio-economic transformation and therefore barring them from work is recipe for poverty in families.

She added that people ought to stop hiding in cultural values and norms to abuse women’s rights reiterating that until women are emancipated, Kasese will continue wallowing in poverty.

Masika also urged parents in Kasese district to prioritise education of the girl-child.
