Former Town Clerk nominated for LCI position in Kasese Municipality

The former town clerk for Kabatunda-Kirabaho Town Council has been duly nominated for the position of local council one chairperson for Saluti B cell of Kanyangeya ward in Nyamwamba Division.

Mr Israel Masereka Byaruhanga also known as Kamuthima, who two years ago retired from public service, is standing the flagbearer for the opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party.

He told Messiah Radio that he intends to offer local leadership that would foster social cohesion and peaceful-coexistence.

Similarly, Angela Birungi, the former Kasese District Chairperson Women’s Council, has been nominated for the post of Chairperson Women’s Council for Phase II cell Scheme Ward, Kasese Municipality.

She pledged to focus on economic empowerment, sanitation, health, and ensuring women benefit from government programs.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Annet Kule who was also nominated for Mumbuzi Cell LCI post, reported that her leadership would center on establishing a village court to handle community issues rather than always running to the criminal justice system for minor issues.

Mr. Longino Kyakakalha, of the NRM and Nason Butseme of NUP have also been nominated for the position of LCI for Kitabu village in Muhokya sub-county and Basecamp Lower in the Central Division respectively. They pledged to lobby for safe water and an improved road infrastructure.
