Police in the Rwenzori East Policing Region, Kasese district has launched investigations into the alleged case of malicious damage and theft against Mr. Leonard Kasereka, the Nyamwamba Division Councilor representing Kisanga Ward.

SP Luka Mbusa, the Regional Community Liaisons Officer who also doubles as the acting Regional Spokesperson says it is alleged that on March 17, 2024, the suspect was handed a copy of the NRM register to deliver to the Registrar of Kisanga A Cell, one Wilson Mbusa.

Moments later, Mr. Mbusa also arrived at the District NRM offices asking for the same register but was told to go back to his Division and find out whether the register had reached the registration centre.

According to SP Mbusa, the NRM office later received the information indicating that the register did not reach the registration centre, compelling the District Registrar, Mr. Amon Mbusa to call Mr. Kasereka to bring back the register to office but on arrival it found out that the first three pages were missing.

Kasereka was asked to bring back the missing pages but on the time of reporting the case, he had not returned them. A case of malicious damage and theft vide Ref: CRB206/2024 was subsequently reported to police by the District NRM Registrar.

The Police Mouthpiece has since revealed that inquiries into the allegations have been launched and are ongoing.
