Stanbic Bank donates a number of medical items to Rukoki General Hospital in Kasese

Stanbic Bank has donated an assortment of medical equipment worth shillings 44.8 million to Rukoki General Hospital in Kasese District so as to enable the facility to improve maternal and child health.

The equipment which include 10 beds, 02 blood pressure machines, 04 oxygen concentrators and 200 mama kits were given today afternoon under the campaign codenamed “ With Love from Stanbic” in form of an appreciation to the communities for working with the bank.

The money that has been used to procure the mentioned items is part of the 300 million shillings that the bank appropriated to support at least 09 health facilities across the country.

Mr. Bernard Ogwal, the Regional Bank Manager told the gathering that they were advocating for a safe delivery of the mothers who attend to the facility so that the infant mortality rate can be reduced.

Mr. Mores Bakwanasonga, the Kasese Branch Manager highlighted that they intended to choose Rukoki Hospital because it was still lacking many items since it was at its inception stages and handles a wider coverage. 

Kasese District Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Paul Walakira who received the donation on behalf of the district expressed gratitude, noting that the items were timely because the facility was receiving between 400 and 468 mothers seeking deliveries on a monthly basis.

He noted that most of the attendees are the young girls who are the victims of early marriages and teenage pregnancies. 

The Kasese District Health Officer, Dr. Amon Bwambale, however appealed for more support to the facility, noting that the structures were still few to accommodate the overgrowing population of the patients.

Rukoki General Hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Edward Wefula welcomed the support, pledging effective utilization.

He encouraged the residents to embrace seeking antenatal care from the health facility so that they are handled professionally. 

some of the expectant mothers who witnessed the delivery of the medical items at the facility, applauded the financial institution for thinking about their lives, promising to continue working together with them when saving for the children that they expect.
