04 students at Rwenzori High School in Kasese District arrested by police for their alleged involvement in a violent strike

The police in Ibanda – Kyanya Town Council, Kasese District are holding 04 students of Rwenzori High School on allegations of involving themselves in a strike that left some school property destroyed.

According to Mr. Denis Kimugha, the Chairperson for the P.T.A at Rwenzori High School, the violent strike started at around 9:30pm last evening after a watching session of a football match between Chelsea Football Club and Manchester City Football Club.

Kimugha told Messiah Radio that when the situation went out of control, police was notified and responded shiftily. Police then arrested 04 students during the incident.

The situation was however, brought to normalcy and classes resumed in the morning hours. 

Mr. Modesto Bwambale Kanekerya, the outgoing Chairperson for Ibanda- Kyanya Town Council described the act as heinous, warning school going children against engaging themselves in any activities that do not align with their education. 

Some of the students who talked to Messiah Radio explained that they were forced to strike after the teachers on duty suspected that they could be enjoying themselves as a man and wife.
