Leaders of South Rwenzori Messiah Listeners’ Club reveal plans to champion fighting domestic violence in Kasese

Leaders of the South Rwenzori Messiah Radio Listeners’ Club in Kasese District and the surrounding areas have revealed plans to champion the fight against domestic violence among the married people.

Mr. Eri Kathoboli, the Chairperson for the Central Executive Committee made the revelation over the weekend during the official commissioning of Kihara Messiah Radio Listeners’ Club, a newly formed group that was curved out of Buhaghura Messiah Radio Listeners’ Club.

According to Kathoboli, most families are limping in terms of development because they their owners are victims of domestic violence.

He explains that he would use the already established groups to champion the fight against domestic violence through organizing for the couple’s seminars and induct the members on how to avoid violence in their homes.

In his preaching at the event that was held at Kihara Church of Uganda, Ven. Alfred Mugisa Mujungu, the Archdeacon for Kasese Archdeaconry, said that research had revealed that that when experiences violence, the members do not mind about working, hence affecting development.

After commissioning the group, the members elected their leaders including Mr. Jackson Ikanga as the Chairperson, Mr. Selevest Kahuka as the Vice Chairperson, Mr. Yosia Mutasa as the Secretary, Hellen Biira as the Treasurer, Mr. Simion Makoma as the Coordinator for Planning and Development and Ms. Racheal Kiiza as the Coordinator for Construction and Projects.
