Rev. Ven. Charles Mbusa appointed as Board Chairperson for St. Paul’s Voc. Secondary School-Kamaiba

The Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) has approved the appointment of Rev. Ven. Charles Mbusa as the Chairperson Board of Governors for St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School –Kamaiba in Kasese town.

St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School which is located in Kamaiba Lower Cell, Central Division of Kasese Municipality was founded on January 28, 2018 by St. Paul’s Cathedral, South Rwenzori Diocese.

At its inception, the institution’s governing body was chaired by the Late Rev. Can. Cornelius Maate and after his demise he was succeeded by Mr. Selvano Thembo who acted as the interim Chairperson.

In his letter dated April 29 this year and addressed to the Head teacher, Dr. John Chrysestom Muyingo, the Minister of State for Higher Education indicated that in the exercise of the powers conferred upon him under section 28 of the Pre-Primary, Primary and Post –Primary Education Act 2008, he approved the appointment of Rev. Ven. Charles Mbusa as the Chairperson Board of Governors and other representatives on the Board of the institution.

Mr. Yasin Tumwine, Wilfred Baluku, Alice Bwambale and Evelyn Mugume have also been approved as members on the Board Committee, according to the school’s Head teacher, Mr. Jockus Masereka.

Others are Zaulia Kyakimwa, who represents the District Chairperson, Medad Muramuzi who represents the L. C III Chairperson, Peter Lubega Akram for the Old Students while Rosette Masika and Juvenile Thembo represent the Staff members.

However, the letter puts it clear that the approved members will serve for a period of three years with effect from April 29, this year to April 29, 2027.

In his handover report to the new Board, the outgoing interim, Mr. Thembo handed over structures, furniture, computers, a five-acre piece of land on which the school is established, equipped library with scholastic materials, an enrolment of 419 students and 34 staff both the teaching and non teaching.

In his remarks after assuming office, Rev. Ven. Mbusa applauded the South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku for entrusting him and the entire team to carry out the role of governance on behalf of the foundation body.

He also pledged that he would work towards the realization of the diocese’s dream to have the institution provide holistic education that would enable the learners become future distinguished leaders.

Ms Jackline Kabugho Mujungu, the Kasese Municipal Inspector of Schools who officiated at the handover and takeover function implored the new Board to lobby for some resources for the development of the school so that it is lifted to higher levels.

Mr. Martin Safari, the Central Division Chairperson and Ms Josephine Mukwenda, the LCI Chairperson for Kamaiba Lower Cell, commended the Church of Uganda for initiating a number of projects that have addressed the challenge of unemployment among the citizens.
