Priests asked to reflect on the life of Jesus

BY ISAAC MUMBERE & XAVIER LINUS KULE

Newly ordained priests in the Catholic Diocese of Kasese have been tasked to reflect on the life of Jesus Christ through showing love, humility, patience and kindness while serving the Lord’s flock.

The remarks were sounded today afternoon by the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Francis Acquirinus Kibira while ordaining three Deacons into priesthood and five Seminarians into Deacons.

The function was held at St. John’s the Evangelist Minor Seminary – Kiburara in Kisinga Sub-county, Kasese district.

In his homily that was drawn from the Biblical Book of Luke 22: 42, the Prelate stressed that in all situations characterized by joy, trials and difficulties, a priest must constantly focus on God’s will and prayer in a bid to portray a spiritual lifestyle.

The Man of God also observed need for the newly ordained priests and deacons to on a daily basis learn how to grow in intimacy (relationship) with God.

He subsequently told the priests that they were called to surrender and sacrifice themselves in the process of focusing and doing what the Lord requires of them.

Bishop Kibira encouraged them to continue seeking forgiveness whenever they face troubles, adding that human beings are prone to a life full of challenges and difficulties.

Speaking on behalf of all the Members of Parliament from Kasese district, Hon. Florence Kabugho hailed the parents of the newly ordained priests and deacons for nurturing them in a God fearing manner.

She, however, observed need for the entire Christians to continue praying for them in their journey of priesthood.
