The Deputy Executive Director at the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) Uganda, Ms Hellen Petronilla Masika has revealed that the institution was very ready to give funds to the former Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Royal Guards through their various SACCOs at affordable interest rates.
Ms Masika made the revelation on Monday evening while addressing the intended beneficiaries at Kasese Better Living Centre in Kasese town.
At the meeting that was also graced by the Rwenzururu King (Omusinga) Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma and his wife, Her Highness (Nyabaghole) Agnes Ithungu Asimawe, Ms Masika said her office was committed to ensuring that the former Royal Guards receive a revolving fund at 8% interest rate so that they use the money to improve their livelihoods after spending close to seven years under incarceration.
She also noted that in addition to giving them loans, her office was working around the clock to convince the top administration of the Microfinance Support Centre to give a grant to the ex- Royal Guards for their economic empowerment and hence have smiles back on their faces despite close to seven years under incarceration.
She, however, observed need for them to register themselves and submit their files in the Office of the Kasese RDC for easy monitoring and supervision of government funds that might be given to them.
Masika revealed that other support would be channeled to them through Rwenzururu Nyabaghole Foundation for Development (RWENFOD).
