Over 300 youth have completed a seven-day patriotic training and carder ship development course at Bwera Secondary School in Mpondwe –Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese district.
The training which was organized by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance started on April 29 and ended over the weekend with participants drawn from the districts within the Rwenzori sub-region.
Aimed at deepening National Ideology, Values and Common Good, the training also targeted youth leaders, primary and secondary school teachers and some selected community who were equipped with various skills including drills, aerobics, singing revolutionary, and patriotism and military songs among others.
Officiating at the official pass-out ceremony, the Minister of State for Trade and Industries, Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, asked the participants to use the acquired skills to train other people who did not get chance to attend the training.
He further asked them to use the acquired skills to work on mindset change as well as being patriotic to the government.
Speaking at the same function, the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kime, explained that they decided to organize the training in order to transform the youth through unlocking their minds so as to have peace and unity in their respective communities.
He also explained the participants were trained on how to work and love their country for future development and socio-economic transformation.
In his remarks, Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa, the Member of Parliament for Busongora County North urged the participants to go to their respective communities and preach the message of deepening National Ideology, Values and Common Goods of Government for Sustainable Values and result orientation.
In his remarks, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walusimbi who commended the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance for conducting the training, observed need for more trainings in order to increase awareness among the youth and communities.
The Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi asked the participants to become change agents in their respective communities.
