The construction works of an 8.7 kilometer Katholhu – Kayanja low cost sealing strategic tarmac road in Nyakiyumbu sub-county, Bukonzo County West in Kasese District are progressing well.
The road worth shillings 8.4 billion and is expected to be completed in a period of one year was on February 27 this year handed over to MG Engineers and Contractors Limited by the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Eng. Enesco Kyobe, the Managing Director at MG Engineers and Contractors Limited made the revelation yesterday while speaking to the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kime, who was at the site to inspect the ongoing construction works.
Eng. Kyobe who explained that the current activity of opening and widening the road was going on well, however, stated that they are sometimes affected by the weather changes especially heavy rains.
Speaking to the press shortly after the inspection exercise, Minister Kabbyanga on behalf of government commended the ongoing works, adding that he would take the report to the Prime Minister who sent all Ministers to their respective places of origin to monitor the ongoing government projects as well as the display and update of the NRM members’ register.
He encouraged the contractors to continue doing good work until the road is completed.
Col. Cyril Mawa Muhindo, the Defense Attaché to the Ugandan Embassy in Algeria, who owns business at Kayanja fish landing site, said he would use the road as an opportunity to revamp his business at the lakeshores.
