Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, the Kasese District Chairperson has revealed that he will work closely with the education department to deal with the teachers who will decline to report to their new places of work despite being located in the hard to reach areas.
Mr. Muhindi argues that there are some teachers who up to now have not yet reported to schools where they were transferred.
Muhindi’s remarks follow a written report from Kasangali SDA Primary School in Bwesumbu Sub-county which indicates that the institution that has an enrolment of over 1,200 learners is being manned by only 08 teachers who are all male.
Responding to the report and appeals to religious leaders and community members to have more teachers posted to the institution, Muhindi who had attended a Saturday service at Kasangali SDA Primary School said it was unfortunate that some teachers adamantly reject to work in such a hard to reach area even after being deployed there by the Education department of the district.
He vowed that he would use his powers and the law to punish teachers who decline to honor their deployments because of the topography of the areas in which they are transferred.
He, however, challenged the parents in the area to embrace the idea of educating their children as one way of fighting against illiteracy from their families.
