Close to four years of operation in semi permanent and wooden classrooms, St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School located at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Kamaiba Hill in Kasese town has today been accorded a new permanent three classroom block by Classroom for Africa Project.
While speaking to a delegation from Classroom for Africa, students and a section of Christians who had gathered to witness the commissioning exercise, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, the Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, explained that the journey to have a secondary school established at St. Paul’s Cathedral started about 40 years ago with an aim of bringing educational services nearer to the people.
The construction works for a permanent three classroom block commenced on January 13, 2023 with an estimated cost of shillings 93,871,500 million of which shillings 75,000,000 million was a donation from Classrooms for Africa and shillings 18,871,5000 million was a contribution from the community.
In his report presented during the commissioning exercise, Mr. Jockus Abraham Masereka, the Head teacher at St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School indicated that the new classroom block has become a great achievement to the education standards and performance of the learners at the institution.
The Team leader from Classroom for Africa, a one Mr. Tom noted that they value education most, adding that it was the reason why started supporting learning centres through constructing classrooms o create comfort for the learners during class time. Some of the students including Rachael Kabugho from Senior Three, Moses Mumbere from Senior Three and Scovia Biira from Senior Two hailed the Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese for his mobilization strategy to have their school constructed. They also hailed Classroom for Africa for its quick response to the situation at their school.
