A 26 – year- old man from Mumbuzi Cell in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality has been arrested on allegations of fraud (conning people of their money).
The suspect identified as Morris Masereka was arrested on Thursday morning and detained at Kizungu Police Post.
Mr. Samson Mutahunga, the Local Council I Chairperson for Mumbuzi Cell told Messiah Radio that Masereka was arrested following numerous complaints from a section of residents indicating that he has been collecting money from them promising to link them to some outside companies that give jobs to Ugandans.
According to Mutahunga, the suspect had allegedly conned 12 women of their money and each of them would pay shillings 30,000 to him.
However, the suspect told our reporter who rushed to Kizungu Police Post that he was also mandated by another person to collect the money on his behalf claiming that that he would offer jobs to some ladies to work as meat roasters in the foreign countries. .
While at Kizungu Police Post, our reporter saw another man identified as Moses Baluku being put in cell on allegations of stealing seven hens
Mr. Fenahasi Wakibanahi, the LCI Chairperson for Kizungu Cell explained that the suspect was found moving with the hens without giving clear information about their ownership.
