A suspected thief has been killed in Kitswamba Sub-county, Busongora County North in Kasese district.
The deceased has been identified as one Moses, a resident of Nyangereka village who was killed from Kihyo village as he was trying to steal bananas from a plantation in the same area.
ASP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident and told Messiah Radio that the victim was killed today morning.
Hon. Gad Mugisha, the District Councilor representing Kitswamba Sub-county who condemned the act of mob justice told our reporter that the body of the deceased was picked by police and taken to Rwesande Health Centre Iv for a postmortem examination.
He encouraged the leaders to sensitize the masses about the legal ways of handling cases without putting the perpetrators out of action.
Mr. Yofesi Katenene, the Sub-county Chairperson, warned that cases of theft in the area are on an increase even among the local leaders and their families. The incident comes just a day after one Mandizo was beaten from Kidodo cell in Kasese town and later died from Kasese Municipal Health Centre III after alleging attempting to steal a T. V screen.
