Kasese District LG approves shillings 91 billion as a budget for the 2023/2024 financial year

Kasese District Local Government will in the forthcoming 2023/2024 financial year operate on a budget estimates worth shillings 91 billion with the education sector taking the lion’s share.

The estimates were approved on Tuesday during the Council sitting at the District Multipurpose hall in Nyamwamba Division.

While moving a motion seeking approval by the councilors, the District Vice Chairperson, Hon. Ham Natuhwera indicated that increment of more than 03 billion  compared to the 2022/2023 financial year which is shillings over 88 billion. 

According to him, over shillings 05 billion would come from the local revenue collections, over shillings 03 billion from the lower local government revenue collections, 88 billion from Central government’s transfers while over shillings 3 billon was projected to be got from the donor funded projects.

Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, the District Chairperson during his address to the council members encouraged them to lay as many ways as possible through which they would enhance local revenue collections.

Mr. Elias Byamungu, the Chief Administrative Officer noted that they would also prioritize issues related to climate change mitigation in order to enable the district continue harboring some tourism features. 

However, Gadi Mugisha, the District Councilor representing Kitswamba sub county said that he was not happy for not prioritizing the extension of water to the communities.
