The police in the Rwenzori East policing region (Kasese District) are investigating a case in which one person was allegedly murdered.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident happened today at around mid-night at Karambi Cell in Kisinga Town Council, Kasese District.
ASP Maate identified the deceased as Benjamin Kule Mayani, 45, a resident of Kasokero village in Kyondo sub-county who has been teaching at Excellent Nursery and Primary School.
Maate said it was alleged that the deceased and his colleague, Pascal Muhindo while coming from Kisinga Town, were attacked by three unidentified male adults who hit him with a blunt object on his forehead, thereby injuring him seriously.
He added that the deceased collapsed and died a few meters from the point of attack while the other victim after escaping from them, continued soliciting for help from the neighbours who responded and found when the deceased had already succumbed to the injuries.
The report of murder was reported at Kisinga Police Station by Deo Michael Muliro, the Chairperson L.C I for Karambi Cell and the scene of crime was examined and documented.
Maate said the canine was introduced to the crime scene and the statements were obtained from witnesses with relevant exhibits recovered from the scene for forensic analysis and the deceased’s body was conveyed to Bwera Government General Hospital for postmortem.
ASP Maate noted that investigations into the matter were still ongoing, appealing to anyone with information that could lead security to get clues of those involved to volunteer it so that the suspects are brought to book.
