Residents in Kasese urged to adequately prepare for the upcoming Mt. Rwenzori Marathon

Residents in Kasese District and the neighboring areas have been called upon to prepare and take full advantage of the Mt. Rwenzori Marathon slated for this month.  

The fifth round of the Mt. Rwenzori Marathon is scheduled to take place on Saturday August 22 with participants drawn from all over the world.

Addressing members of the press in Kasese Town, the Kasese Municipality Secretary for Social Services, Hon. John Kisembo Siriwayo, described the event as a major opportunity for the people in the region to showcase the available tourism potentials and hospitality.

Hon. Siriwayo appealed to the tourism investors especially hoteliers to use the remaining days to carry out digital marketing and clearly showcase the services that they offer.

He also asked the hoteliers to ensure that their accommodations are attractive, clean and conducive to make the visitors comfortable during their days of stay.

Siriwayo called on the cultural groups to prepare their traditional dances and other performances to entertain the guests who are expected to attend the marathon.  

During the celebrations to mark the national day of the Private Schools in Uganda at Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese town, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, highlighted that the Rwenzori region and Kasese District in particular is blessed with major tourist attractions.

He mentioned the National Parks, Lakes and Rivers, factories like Hima Cement, Kilembe Copper Mines and salt in Katwe that attract the tourists.

He therefore described the Mt. Rwenzori Marathon as an activity that helps to promote the beauty and economic opportunities in the region to both the local and international visitors.
