The Prime Minister of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, has called on the people of Kasese District and neighboring areas to join the fight against the increasing number of school dropouts.
Speaking this afternoon at the National Private Schools Day celebrations at Nyakasanga playground in Kasese Municipality, Mr. Baritazale said most dropouts are caused by teenage pregnancies and early marriages.
He noted that despite the fact that the Kingdom is running a campaign to promote both girl and boy child education; and that every child’s right to education must be protected, more learners continue to desert school before they acquire substantive levels of education.
Kasese district vice chairperson, Hon. Jeremiah Bwanandeke argues that an improvement in the levels of education is very key for the development of any community.
He, thus, makes a passionate appeal to all school-going children to keep in school until they acquire post-secondary school qualifications.
Mr. James Tashobya, Chairperson Kasese Municipality Private Teachers Association, asked teachers to uphold professionalism, integrity, and embrace new technologies.
Meanwhile Hon. Michael Mawanda, MP Igara East who was also the Chief Guest at the event, re-affirmed government’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the country.
