Village candidates pledge heightening security in Kasese Municipality

As the Electoral Commission commences nomination of the village chairpersons and women council candidates today, most of the already nominated ones in Kasese Municipality have pledged tightening security, fight land grabbing and work towards fostering peace and unity.

Ms. Janet Mbambu, who is seeking to retain her seat as chairperson Local Council I of Saluti B Cell in Nyamwamba Division, and was today nominated for the same says that she will focus on improving the security of the area by working with police to mount night patrols in order to eliminate criminality in the area.

Mr. Jacob Masereka Tibamanya, the NRM’s candidate for Saluti A indicated that once elected as area chairperson, he will embark on minimizing the rate of school drop-outs.

Mr Herbert Tanasi Bwambale, 26, the NUP’s candidate for Kihara Cell explained that should he be voted into office, he will offer a transparent and accountable leadership and also protect residents from potential land grabbers.

Mr. Deo Isemamba, the FDC flag bearer for Kanyangeya Main Cell indicated his commitment towards advocating for the erection of an electric fence along the Queen Elizabeth National Park to curtail wild animals from straying into the community.

Mr. Honest Mwesige, the nomination Supervisor in Nyamwamba Division appealed to the candidates to conduct peaceful campaigns which are informed by guidelines issued by the electoral commission.ENDS.
