The Rwenzururu Queen (Nyabaghole) Agnes Ithungu Asimawe has urged the Kingdom subjects to embrace kitchen gardening in an attempt to fight against food insecurity.
Nyabaghole made the remarks over the weekend while addressing residents of Bukonzo County East at Kisinga Town Council Offices during her community visit.
According to her, the people living in Towns can practice urban farming using sacks and containers to grow vegetables at home.
Nyabaghole explained that practicing agriculture doesn’t require one to own a big garden, urging the community members to use sacks, jerrycans, and old basins to plant onions, dodo and other greens among others.
She lectured the people that kitchen gardens reduce the household expenditures on food and improve the nutrition of the family members.
In her remarks, the Kasese Assistant RDC, Justine Muhindo Mutabazi, noted that government through the Extension Workers at every Lower Local Government was extending agricultural services to the population.
The Kasese District Women’s League Chairperson, Angela Birungi, urged the family heads to work hard for the betterment of their families.
