BY JOACKIM KULE

The Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-ngoma has lauded social media users for promoting and defending the dignity of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu.

Omusinga sounded the remarks on Friday afternoon while addressing the members of the Worldwide Bakonzo United Tiktokers Association during their courtesy visit to his palace in Kasese District.

The visit was meant to showcase their visibility to the kingdom and also to inform him about the pro-people programs that they cherish for both social and economic empowerment in the community.

The Omusinga noted that the he acknowledged the role the social media users have played in proudly disseminating information about the Kingdom’s programs to an international audience.

He noted that while on his medical trip in Turkey last year, through tiktok and WhatsApp, his birthday run was given sufficient publicity, hence making the people in the diaspora to not only get informed but also respect the kingdom.

He also applauded government for allowing access to social media platforms to every Ugandan, noting that such communication channels have helped in enhancing access to information.

The Rwenzururu Queen, Agness Ithungu Asimawe, discouraged them from using social media to escalate tensions and advance propaganda which she said has potential to damage their reputation.

Ms Evelyn Kabugho, the Chairperson for the Worldwide Bakonzo United Tiktokers Association, in her report had earlier told Omusinga that they’re seeking support in the implementation of their programs.
