The Nyabaghole of Rwenzururu has expressed concern over the rate at which unscrupulous persons are fleecing innocent individuals of their hard-earned money in the name of offering them financial benefits from the Nyabaghole Ekighona Sacco.
Nyabaghole Ekighona is an initiative by the Rwenzururu Queen HRH Agnes Ithungu Asimawe to encourage a savings culture among the women within the kingdom and also enhance their accessibility to finance.
Now, during a visit to one of the branches of the Nyabaghole Ekighona Sacco in Rugendabara-Kikongo Town Council yesterday, HRH Nyabaghole revealed that she had been notified of some fraudsters who are disguising as agents of her initiative and in effect tarnishing the reputation of the Sacco and the entire cultural institution by making empty promises to unsuspecting individuals while also conning them of their money.
The Queen clarified that neither she nor the SACCO has sent anyone to collect money from residents. She urged the public to be vigilant, report suspicious individuals to police, and only deal with official SACCO staff at their known offices.
She has also appealed to Rwenzururu Kingdom subjects to embrace commercial farming whose dividends have potential to spur socio-economic transformation within the community.
