Boda-boda riders complain about hiked fuel prices

BY XAVIER LINUS KULE

Boda-boda riders in Kasese District have expressed concern over the fuel shortages and increased prices.

In an exclusive interview with Messiah Radio, Mr. Arastus Kireru, a boda-boda rider from Kilembe Stage in Kasese Town, says due to fuel shortages, they are finding it hard to carry out their daily work, hence forcing them to stay at home.

Kireru further recalls that a liter of fuel which would initially go for shillings 5,000 has risen to shillings 9,000, hence forcing them as riders to double the transport fares.

Mr. Robert Mugisa Bahundira from the Five- Star Stage expresses worry that his motorcycle he acquired on a loan basis might be impounded due to failure to service the loan.

Ackright  Kauntura from the Golden Stage says they are now unable to cater for their families because of the increased prices of fuel, adding that the situation has made it hard for them to get customers.

However, Mr. Sanyeri Thembo, the Chairperson for Rwenzori United Motorcycle Riders has since urged the bosses of the boda-boda riders to persevere, adding that they should be lenient and desist from pressurizing them to always hand in money after work.
