International Justice Mission hands over 700 copies of the translated Lhukonzo Policy Guidelines on Family and Gender Relations to Rwenzururu Kingdom

International Justice Mission has handed over 700 copies of the translated Lhukonzo Policy Guidelines on Family and Gender Relations to Rwenzururu Kingdom.

While receiving translated policy guidelines last evening at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese Town, the Rwenzururu Kingdom Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, said the development was in line with the cultural institution’s efforts to minimize domestic violence tensions related to family to family property, children’s rights, food insecurity, marriage and morals among others.

He said in 2024, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma launched the policy book in partnership with International Justice Mission, pledging collaboration to ensure that the people’s rights are protected.

The Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, pledged to fully advocate for the elimination of Gender Based Violence, Teenage marriages and school dropouts.He also pledged to supportthe Kingdom’s plans to disseminate the message contained in the policy book to the masses.

Mr. Emmanuel Emwamu, the Western Regional Coordinator for International Justice Mission, said the document was developed through a thorough consultative process led by the Kingdom’s Ministry of Gender, Rehabilitation and Disability Affairs, under the guidance of the Rt. Hon. Best Juliet Bakoko, who also doubles as the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister.
