BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

Female students at St. Theresa Girls Secondary School Nsenyi in Kisinga town council, have urged parents to prioritise menstrual hygiene for their school-going children.

Ms Patricia Mable Musoki, a senior three student at St Theresa Girls Secondary School opines that the failure by some parents to appreciate the critical need to address the menstrual hygiene challenges faced by some teenage girls has seen some of them drop out of school.

Musoki explains that parents who decline to prioritise menstrual hygiene expose their children to unscrupulous men hellbent on taking advantage of their situation in the name of providing sanitary towels for them.

MsLaticia Consulate Muhindo, the head prefect at St Theresa Girls’ Nsenyiemphasises the need to offer both boys and girls equitable access to education without any discrimination based on gender.

However, Ms Enid Kyomuhangi who is the senior woman teacher at the girls’ school urged the female learners to always set their targets and remain focused while working with determination towards realizing their set goals.

In the same vein, the school head teacher MrLeonsio Thembo cautioned parents against marrying off their young female children before they complete school which he said has its attendant effects on the quality of life lived by girls married at a tender age.
