Residents of Kitooro Cell in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality who operate their businesses from Kasese Main Abattoir have been advised to always store their pangas and knives at their place of work as they retire from the day’s activities.
The advice was sounded today by the area Local Council I Chairperson, Isiah Thembo while addressing the residents during a community security meeting.
Mr. Thembo also urged the Abattoir employees to get registered with their respective local community chairpersons for their own security.
His advice followed an observation where some of the Abattoir employees were arrested as suspects during the recent attack by panga wielding assailants on a police barracks in Kasese town.
He also observed the need for them to buy uniforms and print their names on to them as well as having identity cards.
During the meeting, all the residents were asked to register their particulars to the local authorities as well as reporting visitors who might come to the area.
Pimako Kasereka, the Nyamwamba Division Chairperson used the same platform to call upon police to reinstate the system of carrying out night patrols in order to eliminate some criminal that operate during the night hours.
SSP Hassan Ihumbire, the Kasese Divisional Commander, called upon the local council I authorities to be united as they work towards fighting against criminality in their respective area.
