Religious and political leaders condemn an attack on security installations in Kasese

BY ISAAC MUMBERE

Kasese district vice chairperson Mr Jerevesious Monday Bwambale has condemned the manner in which a group of unknown assailants raided security installations in Kasese district.

In the wee hours of Saturday, assailants armed with pangas, catapults and stones attacked Kasese Police Barracks along Kilembe Road and Kikongo Police Post in Rugendabara-Kikongo town council.

The raid saw at least nine people killed in Kasese and six police personnel injured in addition to the police uniports that were torched during the two separatealtercations.

Now, the district boss says the likelihood is that the attackers are natives who have been manipulated and subsequently recruited into subversive activities.

He appealed to all the people of Kasese to desist from indulging in activities that place them on a collision course with the security apparatus.

Bishop Moses Thabugha, the leader of the Born-Again Faith wondered why some people are still being hoodwinked into wreaking mayhem within the western sub-region.

Bishop Thabugha noted that it is possible that some of the people of Kasese are still being manipulated into believing in witchcraft. He questioned why some of the killed assailants were found with small egg plants which looked suspicious items.

The man of God appeals to the people of Kasese to be peace ambassadors and also particularly urges religious to instil the peace messages in the population.
