Kyarumba Town Council leadership demands for Physical Planning funds

BY ABDALA MASEREKA

Ivan Bwambale Bibuwa, the Kyarumba Town Council Chairperson has blamed the leadership of Kasese District Local Government for allegedly failing to fulfill a pledge of shillings 15 million meant to facilitate the urban centre to work on her Physical Development Plan.

Mr. Bibuwa says that as a Town Council, they had started soliciting for the funds from residents to facilitate the exercise but their efforts were watered down by the district leadership after pledging the avail the said money but in vain.

Responding to Mr. Bibuwa’s blame, the Kasese District Vice Chairperson, Jerevesious Monday Bwambale, says the government released only shillings 20 million for each pre-urban centre, adding that for now, Kiburara Trading Centre has already been worked on.

According to him, all the Town Councils should make use of District Planners to implement their Physical Development Plans as they prepare to be elevated to Municipal Council statuses in the near future.

He, however, noted that they would continue lobbying for more funds for the benefit of the Town Councils immediately after mapping the pre-urban centres.
